The Nevada Quarter Horse Association is a regional affiliate of the American Quarter Horse Association. Organized in 1968, its purpose is to promote the American Quarter Horse and related activities in the State of Nevada.
NQHA offers a comprehensive year end awards program for members who show their horses in shows approved by both AQHA and NQHA. Starting in 2003,the open show awards program was established to recognize members who show their American Quarter Horse in open show venues.
In its quest to reach members who possess other interest, NQHA also adopted a new program in 2003 to reward members who enjoy their American Quarter Horses for recreational riding purposes. Patterned after the AQHA Horseback Riding Program, members log hours spent riding their horse, for awards levels.
